Avoiding One Roll Bets in Craps

When you play online craps there are a lot of options but they can really be divided into two main groups. There are bets that can be decided over a number of rolls and there are one roll bets that are decided on the next roll of the dice. The one roll bets are exciting but they are not bets you should be making if you want to win money in the long term playing craps.

One roll bets have a higher house edge than those bets that can be decided on multiple rolls. It makes sense since new players want immediate action and oftentimes prefer to play the one roll bet. The Field Bet is the most popular one roll bet. It is a winner if the next roll is a 2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12. The bet loses if a 5, 6, 7 or 8 comes up next. The house edge is 5.55% on the Field Bet. And that one roll bet has the lowest house edge of the one roll bets. Compare that number to the house edge of about 1.5% on the Pass Line or Don’t Pass Line Bet and you can see that the Field Bet is a bad wager. And it gets worse with other one roll bets. Prop bets like the Any Seven have a huge house edge of about 16%.

One roll bets may be exciting in craps but they have high house edges which means they should not be played.
